Flicks
Vide-oooh:
Create a surreal video montage. Record a three-second video daily of whatever you want, then stitch them together at the end of the week, month, or whatever time you like.
Picture show:
Go see whatever's showing at a local independent theatre. If you don't have one near, pick a random video to watch on the TED talk website.
Filmathon:
Have a movie marathon of films released the year you were born.
TED:
Watch the first TED talk you find on ted.com that starts with the first letter of your first name. Apparently, mine's going to be "Let your garden grow wild". I note that I don't have a garden. You could also choose something at random.
Find:
Create a photo essay or photo scavenger hunt.
Gamify:
Find a way to gamify your movie-watching experience to help you choose a new movie to watch each week. If it's a foreign (to you) film, try a food from that country for your movie snack.
Stop:
Make a stop-motion video using clay, toys, home goods, old jewellery, etc.
Silent:
Create a 15 or 30-second silent film - animated, drawn, live action, or whatever other form you like.
Letters:
Create a stop motion film where the letters of a particular word rearrange themselves across a surface into different shapes or patterns.
Time lapse:
Create a time-lapse of, for example, something growing and augment each image with text or other decoration.
Words:
Think of a favourite quotation, lyric, or saying and find a way to illustrate it. Collage, drawings, still images from cartoons or films, etc.
Cast:
Pick a book you enjoyed that's never been made into a film, and cast its film.
