I am certain I never want to see or hear the word debate ever again. Let us instead choose conversation. The word debate, rather the concept of it, has taken on an unnecessary negative taint, aggravating an adversarial slant that stains both understanding, exchange, and intent. Not everyone is out to beat their compatriots to a pulp with word slurry and an audacious sense of being owed someone else's opinion or their time. Some folks are just out to have a conversation, a chat. Let us indulge in that, choose that, and take the combative overtone away from the get go.
