When I go to bed I very frequently don't feel comfortable doing so in complete quiet, so I'll put something on (not music) only just loud enough to know it's there, but not loud enough for it to be intelligible. This floats between playlists of Alien Nation, Babylon 5, Madam Secretary, the 1980 BBC production of Jane Eyre, and Cadfael. This has the added benefit of letting me know how long I slept by how many episodes played, since I always start from the beginning and almost never check the clock to see what time it is before I go to sleep.
