Kollection Kops
I have no problem with the existance of collections agencies, the job they have to do, the reasons they have to do that job, and not even a problem with the fact that they have had, on occasion, to do that job to me. What I do have a problem with, is being condescended to, being patronised, and being treated rudely.
Let me spell this out for you very simply: just because a person has been lax in the payment of their bills, does not put them on the same social level as someone who's just committed an act of larceny, or beat the shit out of the guy next door. While I realise that they must come down hard on some debtors in order to get the owed funds, I don't think it's necessary to sound quite so much like The Executioner on the first call - particulary when it's clear the person being called (the debtor) is being agreeable and pleasant. If you've had to call someone more than once to get money out of them, fine, go ahead, be tougher.
... but it's not your job to talk to me like I'm a piece of shit. It's not your job to shame or embarass me.
By acting so badly, you are little better than a vulture picking the bones of the carcass someone else has slain. You're an ambulancechaser, a grave-robber, and you're just plain irritating.
You'll get a much better, quicker, and more amenable, response from people, if you are at least professional, and sound less like someone who might've read a bit too much Machiavelli and developed a cranky fit because someone stole your parking spot.
Mother always told you, I bet, that you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar. Guess what? Mother was right.
And one more thing... there is absolutely no fucking reason whatever, that you should be telephoning me before 9 a.m. Period.
