I can't quite put my finger on why, but I find return receipts in email to be on the acute side of irritating. There's something very... slyly intrusive about them. For business I'll accept it, though I still hate it. On personal emails, however, no way. Sometimes when I hit the button in Thunderbird that lets me ignore return receipts (Oh how I love Thunderbird), I say a very quiet "fuck you".
