Today I did something I've never done before: I watched 2001: A Space Odyssey from beginning to end. I've finally seen the whole thing. The lack of having seen it was creating an embarassing gap in my popular and Kubrickian cultural knowledge that I just had to fill. They showed it on telly tonight; too bad about the interrupting commercials, but I probably needed the forced break to fill up on snacks. It's amazing how enticing a hypnotising swirlation of colours in a man's eye can be. Oh, and yes, I did sing Daisy along with HAL.
